Crumble aux pommes

Apple crumble

  • Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F for our North American friends). Meanwhile, just imagine the delicious smell of warm apples that will fill the kitchen… doesn't that make your mouth water?
  • Peel, core and cut the apples into nice dice. Pop them into a gratin dish with the applesauce: already, it smells like grandma's dessert… we're in heaven!
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, and sugar. Add the cold butter, cut into cubes. Now, get out your hands (clean ones, I trust you 😉) and rub the mixture together until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Using your fingertips, work the dough until you get that sandy texture that makes you want to dig in with a spoon.
And let's be honest: at this point, it's very difficult to resist the temptation to taste the raw dough . But hang in there, the reward is coming!
  • Cover the apples with this crispy pastry. If you chose the praline option… congratulations! You have the instincts of a true gourmand: you never lose by betting on indulgence.
  • Bake for 30 minutes. The crust turns golden, the butter melts gently, the apples caramelize… and the smell? Ah my friends, get ready: the whole neighborhood will want to come and have dinner at your house!
